Shale Shores

This is my entry into the Pixel Jam - 2022. I'm so excited to get yall's feedback, since this was my first solo game jam! I am a fairly new developer, just started out self-taught last year.

The WEBGL version is a more glitchy. For the best experience download the Windows version.

About

Explore the cliffs of Shale Shores as a cartographer named Stella on an island called PogGeologyland in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. A nice warm campfire awaits you at the top of the mountain. The path to the top is an adventure for only you to decide.

Don't be frustrated if you fall! This game is meant to be a chill vibe.

Controls

Mouse - Look

- Move forward/Climb up

S - Climb Down

A/D - Move Sideways (Only in Midair)

Left Shift - Hold to initiate climb

Extras:

R - Reset (In case you glitch out)

Escape/Menu - Pause

Physics engine is a little scrappy so odd behavior may occur once in a while.

 Tips and Tricks

-If you are lost go towards the big gray mountain.

- Stella can only climb ~5 seconds at a time. You can reset this time by touching your feet on ground.

- You can slow a fall with climbing to prevent falling to death.

- While falling you can strafe left and right with A/D and move your camera with the mouse.

-Make sure to try to align parallel to the wall for the easiest climbing.

hey, this seems like a really cool game. But i couldnt see anything.
I recommend giving the character the ability to move sideways when on the floor. Or it will feel weird to control.

I

Hmmm thats weird were you playing the WEBGL version? Since idk why there is alot of visual artifacts and bugs in the web version. The windows version doesnt have these issues.

Also there is a day night cycle, nighttime is supposed to be very dark but it only last for about 45 seconds. But based on your screenshot it doesn't look like that.

no, i was playing in windows

Unfortunatly I do not know what is causing that bug :(
I myself am testing and playing on windows and I have never encountered that bug. I'm sorry about the negative player experienc

no worries! maybe is my computer, have you tried playing in a different pc?

I got my friends to play it on their windows pc's and there wasn't an issue. Thats very weird...
